Monday, February 01, 2010 Thank you to all of the Ag teachers for another wonderful show. |
Monday, February 01, 2010 Here's a big "THANK YOU" to all the ag teachers, booster club officers, student officers and volunteers that help make this show a huge success once again. The new times for the shows were great!!!! Also, the loading of the steers went the best ever. Thanks to whomever made that good so quickly. |
Tuesday, December 15, 2009 Thank you to all FFA and booster club members for an AMAZING toy drive, collection of drinks for the show, and outpour of support for the the Smith family. We are all so very blessed for this wonderful family of members!!!! |
Tuesday, December 15, 2009 For animal health issues over the holidays, contact Beard Navasota Vet Clinic in Navasota, Texas. Pay attention to withdrawl dates - especially since our animals are for consumption. See the important papers page to view basic animal health and care information for each species. |
Tuesday, October 27, 2009 I am LOVIN' all the info on the FFA BLOG...as well as the info on the "important papers" great job teachers! |
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 Excellent meeting!!!! I 100% agree that it takes the work of all parents to make this go off. I understand that everyone is busy, but why can't atleast one parent come to the meetings and support their child/children, I do not understand why they can't come. The meetings are fun and none of this stuff is hard to do. We all have to make sacrfices from time to time. So please come and support this great organization and you children. |
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 Great meeting last night! the QUESTION still remains....? if we have 237 FFA members, we should at least have 237 parent(S) involved.... |
Wednesday, October 14, 2009 It seems that way, but there are some members that pay their dues, but don't raise an animal and aren't real involved so ...... but you're right, we should have around 215.....thanks to all that support. The program would not be a success without each and every one of you. |
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 THe whole FFA program can be overwhelming for both students and parents...Parents please get involved so that you can help your students...the best support for the parents are other parents....TRUST ME! |
Tuesday, October 13, 2009 Excellent point. It doesn't matter how much or how many times the teachers tell the students in class, sometimes they don't get home with the accurate information so it pays to be involved and find out for yourself. |
Thursday, September 10, 2009 If anyone is interested in FFA but is at a school that does not offer Ag classes, I suggest you look into the local 4-H program. The kids can still show animals at the county level and be on some judging teams. The only way to join an FFA program is to go to a school that offers one or have an older sibling at the high school and join the junior FFA program. |
Thursday, September 10, 2009 The rabbits will be in December 18 or 19 depending on the breeder. We are trying to get him to be here on the 18th. As soon as we know we will post it on the calendar. |
Wednesday, September 09, 2009 Could someone tell me the date, time and location for picking up the rabbits? |
Tuesday, August 18, 2009 We are new to the area. My daughter is 13, and has an interest in FFA, but her school does not offer any classes. |
Sunday, July 26, 2009 Tomball Night – August 7, 2009! We are short on Brisket Orders & Volunteers – so we are extending the Pre-Sale to August 1, 2009. Contact: Charles Birkner/FFA Booster Club, Email: charlesbirkner@yahoo.com |
Monday, March 30, 2009 May 8th is area convention |
Sunday, March 29, 2009 What is the date for the Area Convention? |
Thursday, March 12, 2009 On the FFA Booster club scholarship application under productive enterprises, what does scope mean? |
Thursday, March 12, 2009 It means the number of animals. You know size and scope. 1 hd for large animals 15 for turkeys, 30 for chickens, 4 for rabbits. |
Tuesday, March 03, 2009 As soon as Bruce Hilligeist sends it over to us we will put it on the website. It is my unerstanding that it will be due at the end of March some time. We will send out an email when it's available and when it's due. |
Saturday, February 28, 2009 When can seniors get the 2009 Booster Club scholarship application? Do they go by the counselors offic? |
Monday, February 02, 2009 Here's a big THANK YOU to the teachers, booster club officers, student officers and all volunteers for all the hard work. It was very much appreciated. The effort put forth by all, is why our show is always a success. |
Thursday, January 29, 2009 Let's also thank all the booster club, especially the officers for giving of their time so freely. This show could not go on without you and sometimes all the hard work goes unnoticed. Looking forward to a successful show!! |
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 Thank you so much to all of you that have donated food to the Concession Stand, items to the Silent Auction, and signed up for the Show Committees. We are still working to bring in new buyers, new Tomball Buddies and pre-sell animals. We are only hours from "Show Time" and looking forward to another exciting show and sale! Please remember that Thursday, Jan 29 at 6:00pm is a MANDATORY set-up meeting for students and parents. Committees will meet for instructions and the barn will be prepared and cleaned for the show. A chili dinner will also be served! |
Friday, January 23, 2009 There was some confusion on the expense sheets so there is a very simple one to follow on the web under important paper calle "expense sheet". Turn it in ASAP. They were due today but we a missing a lot. |
Friday, January 16, 2009 The ag teachers have a few invitations that can be picked up if you did not receive one at the meeting, but if you have a specific company you would like to mail one to, please let Rita Beisert or one of the ag teachers know the address and they can send them one. |
Thursday, January 15, 2009 Will there be any invitations to the show coming out soon? |
Wednesday, January 07, 2009 I see the pig showmanship clinic is tomorrow, but did not see a time on the email. Also, please include an address or directions to the Sander's place. Not everyone knows where they live. : ) Thanks to all the volunteers that help make this a success! |
Monday, December 15, 2008 Bill Treptow will be judging pigs. Troy Oliver steers. Jimmy Klemstein lambs. |
Sunday, December 14, 2008 Has the pig judge been announced? |
Wednesday, November 12, 2008 Thank you to all 3 teachers and the booster club officers for all the hard work put forth for our kids. THANKS!!!!! |
Tuesday, November 11, 2008 I just wanted to thank the ag teachers for everything they have done for the LDE teams this year. You guys do soo much stuff that goes unnoticed and I am so grateful to have had the three of you in my life for the past four years. You have made me into the person I am today. Thank you so much for being there to put in the extra practice hours to make everything perfect and to answer the last minute questions. I know that the area bound teams WILL make y'all proud this year! Thank you guys so much for everything!! |
Tuesday, November 11, 2008 When will the broilers need to be picked up? |
Tuesday, November 11, 2008 Broilers Dec. 17th, that needs to be added to the calendar. |
Monday, November 10, 2008 Do we have a date for rabbit pick yet? Even an approximate? This is our first year for rabbits. |
Monday, November 10, 2008 Rabbits will be here either on Friday, 12/19 or Saturday, 12/20. It will depend if the breeder can get off work early to be here Fri. That's what we've asked, but it's really up to him. As soon as we have confirmed the correct date we will post it. |
Monday, November 10, 2008 Raffle tickets are a great deal. By the time you add that you have a chance of winning about 5 different things, you have about a 1 in 200 chance to win which is dang good for a raffle. |
Sunday, November 09, 2008 Raffle tickets will be distributed at the Nov 11th Booster Club Meeting. Each family is asked to sell at least 10 tickets. In order for this scholarship fundraiser to be successful, we must sell all 1000 tickets. Please contact Debby Smith to obtain your tickets if you are unable to attend the meeting. |
Friday, October 31, 2008 I don't think anyone realizes how hard the AG. teachers work and how they have to "drop everything again" for a student or parent more times than anyone realizes. Instead of complaining about last minute meetings you should be grateful they work as hard as they do for our kids. |
Wednesday, October 22, 2008 This late notice can be blamed on me! I take full responsibility for the late notice! The first week of October, I left right after school Monday for State Fair in Dallas and did not come home until that Thursday night. The next week was pig pick Monday, tryouts for my teams Tuesday, open house Wednesday, district FFA meeting in the Woodlands Thursday, and I left Saturday morning early to take FFA students to competition in Waco where my son got so sick that doctors were even scared! The guilt of spending so much time at work and not spending time with him nearly killed me! I wrote the Farm Skills script and finished the FFA roster this past weekend, and I just realized that Ft. Worth entries were due early this year. There are not enough hours in the day, and I understand how hard it is to work around everyone's schedules. I scheduled it this date because it is the day people have to come pick up the meat order anyway. Harris County Fair is the end of this week, Youth Expo is the end of next week, and we have district FFA contest the beginning of November. I have to have time to make sure there are no mistakes on your kids' entries; I work really hard to make sure things are done right. Sorry for the late notice, Jessica Reeves |
Tuesday, October 21, 2008 Thanks for the advanced warning about Monday's meeting. Let me drop everything for FFA ... again. |
Tuesday, October 21, 2008 You are welcome. At least it wasn't the day of. With Ike pushing us back a week, county shows going on, the delivery of our local show animals, over 200 students turning in fundraiser money at one time (trying to count and deposit money), and on top of that whether anyone realizes it, there are over 400 kids in ag classes that need to be taught and papers to grade. Fort Worth moved up their deadline for entries so there is no choice but to do it then and not later in order to insure there are no mistakes (I know everyone wants that). If there is a conflict and we know up front, I'm sure something can be worked out. |
Monday, September 29, 2008 There is nothing on the calendar about the Harris County Fair and dates for that. |
Monday, September 29, 2008 That is because when I wanted to put all the dates on the calendar (last school year) the website for Harris County Fair had not put a new schedule up. Please see their website www.harriscountyfair.org |
Thursday, September 11, 2008 That order will be place in the next week and it usually takes about 3-4 weeks to got it in, so definitely by the end of Oct. |
Wednesday, September 10, 2008 My child told me at the last FFA meeting she got measured for her FFA jacket. Is there any idea when these jackets come in around? |
Tuesday, September 09, 2008 As of what the construction forman said, we are currently going to hold it here under the ag barn. We were informed that they would be finished with the unloading ramp on the east side of the barn and we could use the "cattle area" to set up pens. If something changes we will let everyone know ASAP. |
Monday, September 08, 2008 I have recently found out that the pig selection is October 6th, do we have a location yet? |
Thursday, September 04, 2008 The best way is through email. The teacher contact page has correct email addresses for all three teachers and is showing to be working. They are also installing a new phone system on Saturday and we will all have new extensions. As soon as those are known we will update the phone numbers on that page as well. I apologize for all that, since the building has been under construction it's been tough, but the email hasn't changed. Thanks. |
Monday, September 01, 2008 How are we supposed to get in contact with any of the teachers? The teacher contact is not working, and when i contacted a school they told me that you didnt have any phones. Please help???? |
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Are they sure about the location for lamb pick yet?? |
Wednesday, August 27, 2008 Not that I know of. As soon as we know we'll pass the word along. |
Friday, August 22, 2008 When will they get to pick there pigs for the 08-09 school year? date and time? |
Friday, August 22, 2008 We do not know the exact date yet, but it will be around the second week in October. All of that will be explained at the Mandatory meeting on Tuesday, 8/26 OR Thursday, 8/28 at 6:30, whichever one you chose to come to. |
Saturday, August 02, 2008 Regarding the meetings, the students only have to attend ONE meeting either on the 26th OR 28th NOT BOTH. We did this in order to reach all kids. We were not able to find the schedule so don't know if they have games on BOTH nights, but is is merely impossible to try to reach every kid, so they will have to chose which game to attend versus attending one meeting. With the growth of our program it is simply too much for us to handle over the course of several weeks with money coming in and such, plus some animals arrive so soon we have to get a firm count. We have not discussed if there will be a late fee for not attending, but the intention of the MANDATORY meeting was so that EVERY CHILD AND PARENT received the information and no one can say "we didn't know". I am sorry there is a conflict, but if we changed it there would probably only be another conflict. |
Saturday, August 02, 2008 FYI -- all those reading and using the blog. If you have an immediate question for an ag teacher please email us and we will return your email asap. We just don't get around to reading the blogs as often as email. The blog is awesome for general comments and questions. |
Friday, June 27, 2008 When is the next steer weigh in scheduled? |
Friday, June 27, 2008 The manditory AG meetings scheduled for August 26th or August 28th interfears with JV and Varsity Vollelyball games scheduled on either of those two nights. I know the rule states that if the student doesn't attend one of those meetings, they cannot show their animal! Can this be adjusted to those girls involved with volleyball, to having the parent or both parents show up for this mandatory meeting. The students do not plan their schedule and they cannot be in both places at one time. Please see the Volleyball Athletic Schedule for this year. |
Wednesday, June 25, 2008 Nice Site! http://google.com |
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Where can we find a list of prices for animals and a due date for the money? |
Tuesday, June 17, 2008 Everyone enrolled in an agriculture class as of the last day of this past school year should receive a letter the last of July or first of August with information about a mandatory meeting and all the prices of animals. If you have not received it my the middle of August please email the ag teachers. |
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 When is the rest of the steer money due and has there been a date set for steer selection. |
Wednesday, April 16, 2008 Please check the FFA calendar. We are waiting to confirm the exact price, but it will be no more than $700 remaining, but hopefully closer to $600. |
Saturday, April 05, 2008 How is Mrs. Reeves? Has anyone heard? |
Wednesday, April 02, 2008 Hi there, We are a local advertising agency – we have a community event that we are hosting on Saturday, April 26th that we were hoping to obtain several student volunteers. The event is for a new subdivision – the theme of the event is Wild Wild West. The community is Rosehurst right on 2920 6 miles from 249. To reward any volunteers, my client has agreed to raffle off two calves to the students. Anyone who comes and helps for the event will get an entry into the raffle. We only need 8-10 volunteers but everyone is welcome. The raffle is only open to the students and we are only asking Tomball Ag right now.
Can you please discuss with the students – they can contact me at lori@thepgroup.net or 281.389.6721. We can send you a sign-up sheet and once we get closer, you can fax it to me and I will coordinate the information with them.
I’ll need to get a response from you fairly quick – I only have a limited time and if you are not interested, I would like time to ask another high school.’
Thank you so much!! |
Wednesday, January 30, 2008 What a weekend! This was my first experience with the FFA show and it was truly an emotional weekend. From the excitement of watching the kids show their animals, to saying goodbye to the animals. The time and effort spent by the Ag teachers, the booster club and Tomball Buddies is evident and you are all so greatly appreciated! This is definitely an amazing program. |
Monday, January 28, 2008 Thanks for another great show. All the hard work by everyone was appreciated. |
Monday, January 28, 2008 Thank you to EVERYONE that helped the kids this weekend. We could not have done it without all the parents and friends of the FFA. |
Tuesday, January 15, 2008 I don't know where it's showing that lambs show Friday. They show Sat. after the rabbits. I had forgot to out them at all on the calendar and they are there now. It is SATURDAY though. Only pigs and poultry are Friday. |
Monday, January 14, 2008 all of the animal showing times are listed except for lambs. it just says friday. does anyone know the actual time? |
Thursday, January 10, 2008 Check the calendar of events for the schedule of when specific animals show. |
Thursday, January 03, 2008 Has the show schedule been set? Will it be posted on the web site? |
Tuesday, December 04, 2007 Turn all Raffle tickets and money in at Booster club Meetings to Debby Smith. |
Tuesday, November 27, 2007 Can someone from the booster club answer this? |
Sunday, November 25, 2007 When are the raffle tickets and money due? Myh husband forgot to get that information at the last meeting. |
Wednesday, October 03, 2007 Great suggestion! The reverse sort order has been applied. |
Monday, October 01, 2007 Suggestion - have your web admin sort the blog entries in newest to oldest order so the new blogs appear at the top of the page |
Wednesday, September 26, 2007 When will the pigs arrive?? Date and time?? Thanks |
Wednesday, September 26, 2007 It will be Oct 8 and the time has yet to be determined. As soon as we know I'll put it on the calendar. |
Thursday, September 20, 2007 Do we have a date set for pig pick? |
Tuesday, September 11, 2007 All great questions and I apologize for not getting the info. out sooner, but those questions are best asked through an email to one of the teachers since that is checked on a daily basis and the website is updated occasionally. Check the calendar of events for important dates. |
Monday, August 27, 2007 Is the first booster club meeting 9/6 or 9/11? |
Monday, August 20, 2007 Are there official weigh-in dates for the steers? I was told that there was not, but have heard from others that there is. |
Saturday, August 18, 2007 Where can I find a list of prices for the various animals? |
Wednesday, August 15, 2007 The new Treasurer is Debby Smith and the process is basically just get her a copy of the paid receipt from school she will write you a check. I will try to track down her number and post it. I know I can when school starts. With all the officers changing this year I'm a little behind. |
Wednesday, August 08, 2007 My son and I have tried to get a hold of someone several times about the Scholarship funds and how to get them. There is no information on the new booster club officers, I have e-mailed the people that have e-mail addresses listed but have never received anything back. Who do we need to contact? |
Wednesday, July 11, 2007 If you have not received a letter yet, maybe there will be sent out soon. Please contact Mr. Vaculin at jamesvaculin@tomballisd.net regarding this information since he is the only one on a 12 month contract. They are at State FFA Convention this week, but should be back Friday, 13th. I will be out of commission for a while. Please pass the word along about Tomball Night to any freshman you know. Thank you. |
Saturday, July 07, 2007 Tomball Night is August 3rd. |
Thursday, July 05, 2007 When was the letter to the freshmen class for Tomball Night sent out. We have not received anything yet. thanks |
Thursday, July 05, 2007 The incoming freshmen should have been sent one letter already about Tomball night and to mark the calendars for the Greenhand meeting. |
Wednesday, June 13, 2007 Will the freshman class coming in get information about working the August 17th Tomball Night? |
Friday, June 08, 2007 That would be awesome Hunter if you will help keep the website up. When y'all get back from WLC give me (Mrs. Thomas) a call and I can tell you how. The sight has changed some so I need to contact the guy to find out how exactly you do this. Thanks. |
Wednesday, June 06, 2007 The Photo Album is got a pic. of the 05-06 year members. can a ag teacher show me how to update the pic. so that part of web site can be my responsibility and i can then i will keep up with it from there! Thanks Hunter Schmidt |
Tuesday, May 15, 2007 The officer page is not updated because no officer has gotten us the new officer information. This site is just as much the students responsibility as it is the teachers so help us out. Get us the info so we can put it on there. |
Friday, April 13, 2007 Those are approved for cattle use and are legal as long as they are used according to the directions. With pigs, paylean is also an approved muscle inhancer (again, as long as it's given according to the directions). All warmers you buy at the feed store are good and have a very little withdraw time. |
Thursday, April 12, 2007 Are Ralgro and Synovex C implants approved pharmaceuticals |
Wednesday, April 11, 2007 The teachers will try to come up with something and put them on the website. The problem is, there are so many approved drugs that can be used if used properly so you have to read. A lot of medicines will have withdraw rates that are noted on the bottle and they can be used, but you have to disregard use so many days prior to processing. We will come up with something though. The best advice is that if you're not sure, ask. |
Tuesday, April 10, 2007 Can you make a list of all approved pharmaceuticals that are allowed to be used on Tomball FFA show animals? |
